Corrupted C RunTime

I am trying to help a relative recover from an error which occurred
when running Microsoft Word. The rror message indicated something
about a corrupted C runtime library. Is there any way of fixing this
problem short of doing a repair install or a clean reinstall?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

A repair install should fix this. A system restore to a date prior to the
time that the error became evident
should also fix this.
A clean reinstall is like using a pile driver to crach a peanut.
