corrupt thumbs.db file(s)?

I have a Minolta Dimage F100 camera (I don't think this is
a camera issue; I think it's a W2K issue, but there it is).

I keep the dozens (hundreds?) of pix I've made from this
camera in a folder on my desktop labeled Photos. In at
least one folder, when I click on a thumbnail image, a
picture comes up that is different from the image in the
thumbnail. The same thing happens when I connect the
camera to the computer as a G: drive -- I just took a
dozen pix in the last day, and only some of them are
showing up on t he camera -- Windows is telling me that
some pictures are on the camera that are no longer there
and is refusing to show me some of the pictures that are
indeed still on the camera (when I look at the pictures on
the camera, I can see the correct current bunch of pix).

I suspect corrupt thumbs.db files: Is that a good guess?
If so, any suggestions for how to correct the problem? If
I simply delete a thumbs.db file, what happens?

Deleting thumbs.db probably is the correct action to take. Next time you
browse that folder with "Thumbnails" selected under View, the file will be
recreated, hopefully with the correct pictures.

It seems as I gave you incorrect information. Thumbs.db is created when an
XP computer views pictures in a folder, even if this is over a network.
Win2000 stores the thumbnail as a separate data stream within the file
itself. You should be able to right click a picture file in thumbnail view
(or several) and select "Refresh Thumbnail".
