Corrupt Registry Lost CDROM Drives

Hi: Dinking around with PQ Magic, made some errors and corrupted registry. Went thru Device Manager uninstall etc., nothing works.

Can I reinstall XP HE over current OS (remember, no CD Readers when in OS partition) and if so how.

Or can registry be corrected?

Or am I into reformat etc.?
 
Boot to a DOS command prompt (NOT a DOS window inside Windows) and type:
scanreg /restore

If you can't access DOS, download a Windows 9x boot diskette (preferable 98)
and insert it before turning your PC on, then type the command as above.

Can we force an overwrite of the current XP partition in DOS?

OK...go to Support.com and drill into winXP and type in the Search window Error Code 19!
This was found by drilling down in Control Panel to Add new hardware, then clicking on yellow highlighted CD ROM drives and the message, CD ROMs software loaded but not operating due to corrupt Registry...CODE 19!!!!!!
