Corrupt Foreign Disk

I moved an IDE drive to a different channel in my server, not realising that
the bios wasn't set to to Auto detect drive parameters. Because previous
drive parameters were in place, this drive became corrupted. It is now
recognised as a Foreign Disk and Disk Manger can't import it or remove it.
When I attempt to import the disk, I can see the volumes that are on it. So I
would like to try and repair and import this disk. When I attempt the import,
I get Event ID: 1000 logged - Source LDM - Volume started in failed
redundancy mode.

How do I go about repairing it?

You can try running any of the various available disk diagnostic/
recovery programs but don't get your hopes up. It sounds like the file
system has gotten corrupted and may be beyond repair at this point. With
luck it's only the partition table that's screwed up and can be fixed but
don't count on it.

You do have a backup, of course? ;)

There was one important file which wasn't backed up. Howeveri've managed to
recreate it. So now I just want to reformat this disk and start again. But
Disk Manager won't let me do anything with it. So i'm probably going to have
to down the server, put the drive in a different machine to reformat it.

Incidently, three quarters of the time that I come back to look in here,
instead of getting the newsgroup, I get a page saying "Service Temporarily
Unavailable" I can then go to a different machine and it works fine. Why is
this?

That probably won't help. Delete the partition and recreate it. If
Disk Manager won't let you delete it, use a third-part tool such as
Partition Magic.
