I just had windows XP reinstalled and was restoring back up files when I
received a message that some files were skipped, and when I viewed the report
it said that there were corrupt files. Does this just mean that these files
weren't replaced or do I need to worry that corrupt files are now on my
computer? I just haven't seen this message before and it wasn't very clear.
Thanks.

thanks

One of the reasons microsoft techs use file transfer wizard as "backup".After
an xp reinstall, run the wizard from xp cd,locate the saved FTW
file,apply,this
leaves mostly windows update to get all back to reg. running mode.Set the
wizard as old pc,select files, settings, etc to save, save to new folder, once
thru,
move to cd.Also, always run the FTW from xp cd....

I would be surprised if the corrupt files weren't the ones that were
skipped. If by chance, a corrupt file did make it onto your computer, you
would know when you try to open it - it would fail. Possible corruption is
an argument for multiple backups - or the "don't keep all of your eggs in
one basket" approach.

Skipping means those files weren't transferred. The originals may have been
corrupt, or the backup got corrupted; you'll have to check it out.
