I have Microsoft works word processor in Windows XP and
when I try to open my document it says "may be in use by
another application, file format may not be supported by
any of the installed converters or file may be corrupt."
What does this mean and can I get my file back?
Thanks

Yes I created it in Microsoft Works Word Processor. So
it isn't opening in what I created it in.

Yes I created my document in Microsoft Works word
processor so it isn't opening in what I created it in.

Works has two word processors, one is the Works word processor and the other
is Word. I'm guessing you created it in Word and may now be trying to open
it in the Works Word Processor...hope that's clear. If that's the case,
open the Word component of Works and see if you can then open the document.

If not, go to the following website, scroll the list on the left to
works.win, select it and try your question there:

I have Word Works Processor, I don't have Word and
I'm not trying to open it in Word. This is the third
group I've been to and no one can help. But thanx I'll
try tbe other!!

Sorry I can't be more help but the folks on the works board should be better
equipped to help you as most on that board are Works users as are the MVPs
on that board.

Do you know what the extension is, if so would you share that information?

Can you open it with Notepad?
