CORRUPT FILE MSGS EVERYWHERE!!! PLS HELP!!!

somebody PLEASE help me! my computer is constantly popping up "Corrupt File" messages, stating that the "\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts" file/directory is corrupt and unreadable, and that i should run the "Chkdsk utility". i currently have windows xp, and i have no problem loading it up, but there is just pop-up after pop-up of these error messages, which starts as soon as i get to the desktop user login screen! at first i thought my computer was infected by "MyDoom.b", but i have tried scanning my computer with numerous virus-detecting programs, and none have found "MyDoom.b" to be on my system. can somebody PLEASE help me?!!
 
Get yourself some good spyware such as Ad-Aware or Spybot. Do a Google search.

Been there ... done that..!!!
Sounds like early signs of system failures!!!
With me your problem led to a BSIL(Blue Screen Infinite Loop).
How old is your system/memory?
Check your memory with a good checker!!!!
Bad memory that can not maintain its data when written back to disk becomes
corrupt to windows on the next read.

My system memory was only 16 months old when those corrupt files started to
appear.

Other people may say power supply or a virus, also possible
