Corrupt Database?

PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

I received a single overflow exception in my database,
(an integer should have been a long) and Access crashed.

Now I try to open my database, but Access just ignores
the open command. That is, I click Open on my database,
and Access just returns to a blank Access application.
When I try to link to the database, or compact the
database or any of the standard utilities, Access just
ignores my commands and proceeds as though I had hit
Cancel.

I've tried copying and renaming the database. I've tried
opening it on a different computer, but in all cases
access just ignores the file and returns to a blank
Access application

WHAT CAN I DO?

(Afraid to leave my email because I already get 60 emails
a day from the last time I posted on a Microsoft
newsgroup)

Thank you.

After a cooling off period of a couple of hours, I tried
all of the suggestions listed on the site, all to no
avail.

Finally, I just bit the bullet and re-worked the database
from the last known good backup (in this case 2 days
prior--YIKES!)

But all the website info was informative, and especially
the section on preventing database corruption in the
future.
Much thanks.

Damon
