Correcting "Type Mismatch"

There are several databases that I import to Access via a
text file. Often there will be a field that I need to have
Access read as numerical for calculating purposes. How can
I convert certain fields from text to number without going
back and changing the table properties after each import?
 
Hi Dave,

Normally when importing text files Access recognises numeric fields as
such. In any case, the Text Import Wizard allows you to select the data
type of each field.
