Question for anyone who could help....

I have a laptop that has XP Pro loaded onto it, but it has been customized by the IT department. Meaning normal file paths point to network drives, objects in GUI are disabled, and other such madness. What I would like to be able to do is "reset" my OS to a state that it would be like if you installed XP Pro from a normal CD installation.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

If you have the use of a company owned computer, you can only
perform changes with the approval of your company's systems administrator.
Making unauthorized changes on your own could land you in hot water.

Well...perhaps I should clarify a bit...the company laid me off and as part of my severance package was that I got to keep the laptop...hence my need to revert it back to a "normal" configuration

Thanks

Your best bet is to perform a "clean install".

My guess is that you are going to have to re-install from
scratch since there is no way to know all the
customization performed by the IT dept.

If you have Volume License Windows XP Pro, sometimes mistakenly called
Corporate version, a Repair Installation can allow you to use your
retail Windows XP Pro CD and your Product Key to perform a Repair
Installation:
