Corporate laptop security

I have around 15 windows XP laptop users that go out on the road, security
has been easy until now as they don't have internet access unless they are
docked in at work. Now they all require access from home or on the road via
Wireless G3 cards and VPN's plugged into the PCMCIA slots, this is obveously
a problem as although the wireless card do work with the vpn they also work
by giving the users access to the internet.

I've played around with hardware profiles to lock things down and some
personal firewall software but wondered if anyone had any advise?

Do they have admin rights?
Have you installed any immunizations for spyware?
Windows firewall enabled?
Antivirus installed?
