I'm just looking at buying an off-the-shelf job from Dell or HP and curious as to whether to go for a Core 2 1.8GHz or Pentium D 3GHz. Both near enough the same price to make little difference.

The computer will be mainly used for running music editing software such as Cubase and Adobe Audition.

Any ideas which would be more suitable? Or is it even worth worrying about?

Core 2 Duo's are better in every way than the Pentium D - just google c2d v Pentium D and you will find all you need to know :thumb:

My opinion is that the Core 2 1.8GHz would be even worth than Pentium D 3GHz if you just want for using music and other intertainment....

No problem Adam :thumb:

....and if you really do go for the Pentium D I'm gonna spank yer ass :p

.....we see everything ;)

Hehehe :D

Core 2 Duo at 1.8Ghz would be much better for Cubase, in my opinion.

The CPU speed is irrelevant, really, other factors come into play.

For years Intel hyped up their CPU speed whilst AMD responded in giving their CPU's numbers that were the equivalent of the Intel chips.

Hence an XP2600 actually ran at 2Ghz.

At last Intel have got realistic with their speeds.

And just by way of a mention, have you considered an AMD based machine? ;)
