Copying VHS tapes on the computer

What software do I need to get started copying VHS tapes onto the computer. I want to hook up my VCR to the computer. Is it possible? And how would I go about doing it?
 
Brian,

You need a hardware analog capture device of some sort, with the appropriate
driver.... see the Analog Video Capture section of my website to see some of
the items that people are using....

Hi there,

You need to buy an analog capture device. That will sit between your
video source and our computer. Software will come with the device that will
enable capture. You should check out a few magazines before spending any of
your hard earned.
