How can I change Word and Excel files copied to a RW CD
so that I can delete or move them to folders.? How can I
prevent them from being Read Only? They will not change.

I think I don't understand the question, Smedley.

A CD doesn't work like a harddrive. If you burn files to it, those files
will be read-only.

When you copy the files from a CD to a harddrive, you'll need to open
Windows Explorer, right-click the files, and change the read only
setting by choosing Properties.

I'm no expert, but, you can highlight and copy the files from a CD to any
folder on the hard drive. Then you can right click on the file, open
Properties and then uncheck the Read Only box. You will then be able to
delete or modify the file. But, if you are trying to delete or modify them
on the CD, this is not possible. Unlike a floppy disk, you must first copy
the file to the hard drive, modify and save it to the hard drive, then copy
it back to the CD via a CD burner program. Additionally, you can not
directly delete a file from the CD as you would on a floppy disk. With a
RW-CD you can overwrite files, so that they are replaced with the new files
using a CD program.

I hope this helps to answer some of your question. If not, there are others
with more experience who will be happy to provide more information to help
you out.

Very best regards,
Jan :)
