Copying to CD Drive

D

Doug Mc

I'm having trouble copying files to my CD burner.
It used to work ok when using Windows Explorer, etc.
Now I get this error message: "F:\ is not accesssible. Incorrect function."

Several weeks ago I installed Nero and Nero seems to not have any problem.
I can make CDs, DVDs, etc.
I really don't know if the problem started when I installed Nero or not.

I've tried deleting the drive, doing a restart and re-installing the drive
but that didn't make the problem go away.

Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
Doug

Thanks. I notice that this applies if you've installed Easy Cd Creator .
I don't know if that's been done.
If I do what Van says, will I still be able to use Nero??

I bet Nero's your problem. Try completely uninstalling Nero. If that
solves the problem, don't use Nero. About the only thing Nero can do that
the basic Explorer CD burner functions and the ISO Recorder Powertoy[1]
can't do better is suck and hang.

No, actually that doesn't apply to you, it's not the same fix. Nero could
have caused the problem. From My computer right click on the CD drive,
choose properties and make sure recording is enabled on the drive. Then
from Start | Run type in services.msc, click ok. In the services snap in in
the right pane scroll to the IMAPI CD burning service. Make sure it's
started and the startup is set to automatic.

If that doesn't help you could try running this fix for auto play.

If that doesn't work uninstall Nero or just use Nero for burning and install
the packet writing component of it, called InCD. This will allow you to
copy files to a CD-RW just like it were a giant floppy. I have no
experience with Nero or InCD so I don't know how reliable it is.

Thanks Paul,
I didn't recognize ISO Recorder.
I clicked on the URL but I found: "(DVD support is only available on
Windows Vista)" and I need DVD burning support.

I agree that Nero probably caused it.
But since I need DVD burning I guess I'll just have to put up with it.
Or do you know of any more solutions?

I'm not sure of any good way to do what you're trying to do in Windows XP,
but if you have more than one optical drive, you might consider using one
to boot Knoppix[1] from and use K3B[2] on that to do your burning.

Thanks Rock!
Recording WAS NOT enabled!
Maybe Nero turned it of???

I tried a copy and it worked fine.
Now I'll see if Nero still works.

Thanks again,
Doug

Great, let's hope that's all this needed. Thanks for posting back.
