copying to a CD

I'm new to XP, I don't have a floppy, but DO have a writeable CD. I want to create a backup boot CD. I've gone to MSN Help and found the instructions to backup my system/boot files, clicked on what appears to be my CD drive, but it asks me for a "file name" and then tells me that the name is invalid and/or I don't have access to the drive. I've tried names like "boot", "startup", etc. -- simple names

What am I doing wrong?

I'm pretty sure that the CD drive has been "installed" (it's my sister's machine and I wasn't here when the guy put it together) because AOL has been loaded -- so the CD MUST be working !! (Although I haven't figured out yet how to actually determine that LOL!)

MS drives me nutz LOLOL !

Thanks for any info that you may wish to provide me :

XP is only capable of making udf formatted CD.
What you're attempting to make will be in ISO 9660 format, and will be made
in two sessions initially. Any further backup files will have to be backed
up in another session.
