Copying Text Files to CD

Guest

I am trying to back up text files to a CD, but when I do, the "created" and
"modified" dates are both the same....Today's date! I need to keep the
original "created" date intact.
The files were created with Word 97 and Word 2003.
Is there some tweaking I need to do to the copy program?
Thanks!

Hi nick,

You are about to see a post come up that is brand new where I am having the
same problem. The key is though is that the modificaiton date has to be the
date that you want to preserve and you will find that the creation date
shoulld be similar but not the same and not the present date. The only date
that should be present is the last time accessed. Take a look at my post that
is coming and see what you think of it. Thanks

Hi Nick,

The native burning program is not configurable in that fashion and will
always change those dates. There is nothing you can do to change this
behavior. To copy files and retain the original dates you need to use a
third party program like Nero that has options for this.

It's not baffling, it's a limitation of the design implemented for CD
burning using the native imapi burning service. To retain the dates, you
need to use something other than the native software.

Thanks Rick! I did try Nero and the files copied perfectly. Now another
problem. When I tried to sort them by date, they didn't. The sort listed them
alphabetically in groups "Last Year", "Two Years Ago", and "A Long Time Ago".
Weird!
