Copying text and label fields to a tab control

I set up a form using the form wizard and selected several fields. I then
created a tab control and attempted to drag the fields to it separating them
into two different tabs. I noticed that they did not display properly, so I
did a control-c and then a control-v to copy and paste the different tabs.
All of the fields copied successfully but got re-named. Is there an easy way
to click a group of fields and drag them to one tab and then another and drag
to the other tab so that the field names remain the same ?

CUT <Ctl-X> instead of COPY <Ctl-C>

Existing controls cannot be dragged onto TabPages, only new ones from the
Toolbox.
