Does anyone know if you have a network of mixed OS's, say WinXP home, WinXP
Pro and Win9x and you are trying to move on to all WinXP machines and make
redundant the Win9x machines. Say you have one WinXP with a good setup, can
you backup the settings and transfer them to the rest of the WinXP home
machines so that they are all equal. I realise that you would have to
rename the rest of the machines before you re-connect to the network.

Does that make any sense??

If I understand you correctly, you want all the PCs to be
clones of each other. Well if they are the same OS that
would be rather simple, use Nortons Ghost and Ghost the
hard drives. If you are saying that you have applications
that are running on 98 and you want an easy way to copy
all of those over to XP there is no easy way to my
knowledge. You would have to reinstall the apps and XP
would tweak them to fit it's specs which are quite
different from 98.

If you are trying to make the 98 machines clones of the XP
for backup purposes then Norton Ghost may be your answer,
you will loose every thing on the 98 systems though. And
when ever you work with Ghost, backup and re backup befor
you get started. It's not hard to use it's just one
blunder can wipe out every thing.

Good luck, I hope this is what you were looking for.

No, I dont want all PC's to be clones. I only want the XP home machines to
be clones. Is it simple?
