When I copy a presentation to either my desktop or a thumb drive to provide
it to another user, the video clips i've included in the presntation don't
play. Is there a way to copy the entire presenation so they will ?

Before you insert them into your PowerPoint presentation. Copy all the video clips, music files your going to insert into your presentation in to the same folder as you presentation, then insert them. Then copy all the files to your thumb drive and it should work then.

Hi Michael,

I've tried what your suggesting and found that the link which is created
includes the full direction ie C:\Documents and Settings\....\videos\test.wmv
Using the following method to insert movie;
Insert --> Movies and Sounds --> From File

When I move the folders to other PC etc... the link won't work because they
are looking at the file direction above.

I remember when I worked with front page etc.. the recommendation you made
will work with hyperlinks and web pages can be moved without issue.

The only solution I have found which works is creating a directly on the C
drive, example c:\Videos\ and getting that folder moved at the same time as
the ppt's.

Are we doing something wrong?

In your folder C:\Videos, copy your presentation and all your video/sound files into this folder. Then using the Insert Movies and sounds, insert your sounds and videos into your presentation. The hyperlinked material, if it is somewhere on your computer must also be copied to the C:\Videos folder and re make the hyperlinks. When it is all done copy that to your thumb drive.

Hi Michael,

I've tried that but when I run the files from the thumb drive or new
location, the links still point to the c:\videos folder.

Example: Using CD or flash drive which is now called E, then ppt are from
e:\video\test.ppt. The hyperlink for the movie is pointing towards c:\videos
and for the new pc if the video's don't exist the movie won't run.

I'm running office 2003 sp2..

Is there a setting somewhere which stops the full directy being used?

Bill

Use the package to CD option and select the copy to folder option. then just copy the files to the thumb drive.

I got it. By saving all the video clips from 1 thumb to another and then
inserted them into the aprropriate slide. I appreciate everyone's help. Thank
you.

Thanks folks. Yes having all the files in the same folder as original
worked. TRied with a couple of presentations and they all worked.

Excellent support folks. BIll
