A user had several files that were copied to his PC from a
server running Mac and Windows services. Once the
Macintosh Office files were copied to his Windows XP PC,
the file associations were lost. We tried putting .PPT on
the end of the files but they did not show up properly on
the machine. Instead, the files opened with 0 bytes.
Some of the files were older versions of Office, i.e.
Office 98, etc. Could it be possible that the files
didn't convert properly because there are no Mac services
running on the Windows machine? We can still access the
files on the server and they show up just fine but once
they are copied local to the Windows PC, the associations
are lost on some of them and there are 0 bytes of data
available.
