Copying photos to CD

I have downloaded pictures from my camera's disc onto my computer. I tried to get pictures onto a CD for backup purposes. When I hit "copy to CD", nothing happens. I looked in my "plain and simple" book and it talks about a CD writing wizard, but I am not certain on how to find or access it. Please help!!
