I am using xp version.

There is an option to move a message to another folder but I wish to
copy some and keep the original where it is. Is this feasible please?

Thanks
Colin

Thanks Sue, your answer seemed too obvious. On trying again I can now
move the message(s) by going to copy on the main menu. The problem
came because I was right clicking with a shorter menu not displaying
the copy command.

Incidentally though, is it possible to annotate own notes to a saved
copy of a message?

Cheers
Colin

Sure. Open the message and if it's plaintext or HTML format, choose Edit
|Edit Message.

Use the Copy command instead of Move.
