copying local group policies

Hi,
I have created a local group policy on one pc and tried copying this to
another pc which results in losing all gpo settings. Is there a way of coping
the gpo to another pc without losing the settings?

I will be grateful for any information received.

The question is: What did you copy?
Everything from %Systemroot%\System32\GroupPolicy on the one client
to the other?
At end of the copy process a restart can be required, or manually
force the settings (secedit ... /enforce on W2K, gpupdate /force
on XP).
If it still doesn´t work you have to edit the gpt.ini inside the
mentioned folder. Just add a "1" at the beginning or a "0" at the
end of the Version Entry.

Hi Mark,
I basically created one local gpo, saved it and on another
pcgpedit.msc - I went file\open\chose the saved local gpo. When opened all
the settings had vanished or changed back to default.

There is no file/open Dialog to open or save Policies inside gpedit.msc
Perhaps you used import on administrative templates?

As the name presumed, this are only templates, just textfiles
to edit and make your wanted settings. But the setting itself
is stored in a registry.pol file within %Systemroot%\System32\GroupPolicy
\User or \Machine depending on the configuration.
