I have a very large document (a book) for which I want to create another folder and move it (partially) there. I want to move few hundred pages, not the whole thing. How do I select/copy such huge file. I can put it in clipboard then move it to another folder---except that I have no idea how I do that for a partial. (I know I can Select All) but that doesn't achieve my goal...I use Word 2003 with XP...(make your instructions dummy-proof, I'm a newbie with Word).thanks!

I would suggest using Save As to save the entire document to the new folder,
then delete the part you don't want.

Thank you Suzanne...except that the part I don't want is 2300 pages...This happened when I converted my book from ami Pro to Word...in the process my 400 pages book became 2700 pages. After 400 pages, I have nothing but gibberish for more than 2000 pages. I need to transfer the whole 400 to another folder instead of trying to delete more than 2000 pages. Any ideas how I could do this without becoming homocidal? Thanks, Moniqu

No, I haven't tried to do that...I have made many changes to the document since...I was thinking the only option for me was to move my book to another folder and leave the other 2300 pages behind ..I need to eliminate all those pages, it's making my writing difficult....thanks, Suzann

Hi Monique,

Have you tried the following:

Place you cursor at the end of the last good page (page 400 according to
your example);
Hit CTRL-SHIFT-END;
Hit DELETE.

Your last 2300 pages will be gone in a flash!

Is that want you want to do?

Cheers!

I strongly suspect that your document is corrupt. I would recommend copying
the first 400 pages and pasting into a new document.

Put your cursor at the beginning of your document (Ctrl-Home). Then press
the F8 key (extend selection) and F5 (goto). Tell Word to goto Page 400 and
the first 399 pages will be selected. Hold the shift key down and position
your cursor where you want it on page 400 (to select what you want from
that page). Then press Ctrl-C to copy. Switch to your new doc and Ctrl-V to
copy.

Hope this helps,

I suggested that you try to uncorrupt your document. You demurred. I didn't
see any further question to answer, but JGM seems to have provided the
solution you require.

Have you tried highlighting the text to be moved, then copying and pasting it to wherever you want to store it
