in W98 and DOS programs i could navigate to a directory, local or network
drive, issue a copy *.txt all.all, and all .txt files in that directory
would be copied to a single file all.all can i do this in XP and how?

You didn't, not if you wanted it to work.

You did

copy *.txt+ all.all

and you do it exactly the same way.

Yes, and in the exact same way.

Are you asking how to open a command prompt? Start >> Run >> cmd
[Enter] is one way.

You must have confused yourself by standing on your head when
posting. The plus sign is not needed, as I've just verified by trying
it.

Veddy interestink.

copy *.txt+ all.all *DOES NOT WORK*

copy *.txt+ all.txt *DOES NOT WORK*

copy *.txt all.all *WORKS*

copy *.txt all.txt *WORKS*

You don't know me very well. I'm really nasty to people who think they are he-men because the run a server type OS like XP rather than a Personal OS like real Windows. As that is most in a NT group ...

Also people that mention error messages without saying what they are.

I've only been nasty since XP was released. My attitude is if you want to buy an os that many people earn well over $100 an hour to configure then you need to be treated as one of those people. Reason - MS is cutting costs by forcing server software down our throats.

David, don't hate us because we make more money an hour than you do,
hate us because we're smarter. If you can't stand the XP user, go back
to trolling the legacy windows groups were you can be worshiped as the
God you think you are.
