For some reason, whenever I try to save an image to my computer now (such as
a animated smiley for my web page) when I right click it only gives me the
option of saving them as .bmp files and I need .gif. It won't let me change
it. Does anyone know what I screwed up and how to fix it? It used to work
fine....

That happens when the Temporary Internet Files are too full. In IE click
Tools | Internet Options. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
files section of the General tab. On the next window place a check mark in
the box to Delete all offline content.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and scroll
down to the Security section. Uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages to
disk".

I tried all that, and I still only get the option of bitmp. on "my pictures"
folders. Is there anything else I can do? I'm relly getting frustrated here!

Hi,

Try clearing the Temporary Internet Files again.

Next, delete the TIF folder. See the instructions at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Next try:
JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix (Restore the default associations for
jpe/jpg/jpeg files)
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/xp_jpg_jpe_jpeg_file_assoc_fix.zip
Download, unzip and run.

If you're running a graphics program that takes over file associations, you
may have to find that setting and disable it.

Hope this helps,
