Help what is going on in Powerpoint on XP. When you used to copy a slide from the slide viewer and pasted it into a different presentation it retained its minature proportions now when you copy it creates a new slide of normal size. How do you get the image to remain small?

If I understand your question correctly then this was considered as a bug in
earlier version and the MS dev team fixed it in XP hence you are seeing the
new behaviour.

If you are looking to continue to be able to use a slide miniature that you
can paste onto a slide, just save the slide as a picture then insert as you
would any other picture.

File | Save as ... | change the type to a picture format
