I'm on XP Home.

I've backed up folders onto CD's before using the standard procedure but now
I always get the reject message "There was an error in the writing process.
The disc you have attempted to write may no longer be usable." even though
I've tried new and partly full discs several times.

They include music, picture & programme folders. How can I copy the latest
ones to CD?

Tim,
You need to put in a new blank disk. if that does not work get new rewrite
drive.

Hi, Tim;

This article has some tips in troubleshooting the types of problems you
describe: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=324129

If the above doesn't help in finding and fixing the problem, please post
back with the following:

--- type of computer you are using (desktop or laptop with brand name)
--- type of CD-R/RW you have (brand name, USB or internal/external, driver
version)
--- CD burning software you have installed
--- what software/hardware changes you made to your system prior to first
seeing this problem
--- Service Pack level on the XP Home system you use
