Thanks for all your answers, you were definitely right. I had actually fixed
it, though, by restoring my computer back about five days, but had no idea
why.

Another question, I keep getting error messages when opening things on the
web, error: Object Expected - URL: file://C/\documents adn
settings\owner\local settings\Temp\NDr and some numbers, and tmp.html.
Anybod know how to stop that or fix it?

For the Internet problem, first make sure your computer is
virus/malware-free:

Do all the preparatory steps at the link above.

Thanks, I'll try that. Maybe that will get rid of all the pop-ups, too, huh?
I have that selected on my anti-virus and in internet explorer but I still
get them. How annoying they are.

Wow, quite a lot of pages when I printed this stuff out. IN briefly
beginning to read it, if I have spyware software or any other you suggest
downloading are they better and should I download them as well? I assume you
are wanting me to go through the whole Malware removal process, which is
great. I'm getting ready to start that. Hope that will clear up some of
these funky things that keep happening. I'll let you know.

It sounds like you *do* have malware on your machine. Yes, I do suggest
you go through the preparatory work and at least some of the scans with
the various tools. As I say on the site, everything should be done in
Safe Mode. It *is* a lot of work getting rid of malware. There's no
getting around that.

Okay, thanks, will do. I'll get the files off my computer down at church
tomorrow when I go to work, then I'll get busy and try it.

Thanks so much. I had a problem, I downloaded the wrong AdAware, it was
Adware Alert and it would go for a while then have to quit it said. So, I
went on and did the other things, could not run my Virus program in SAfe
Mode. Do you know anything about Freedom Anti-Virus? It's free with
Adelphia, but when you try to run other things, such as Ewido with it,
everything slows down to snail pace. I had to disable Ewido. Do you suggest
getting rid of Freedom and installing the anti-virus you recommended and
doing everything again in Safe Mode?
Also, now I have a new problem, when I go away from the computer for a while
and come back it is frozen, mouse won't move, all I can do is shut it off and
reboot. Is that interference from some of these programs with my anti-virus
that I have? Appreciate your help! Thanks, Gail

I would not use the Freedom av. I also don't use Ewido for anything
except malware removal. As I say on my website, you can download a
trial version of Ewido to remove trojans and other malware, but you
don't have to keep it. Frankly, your system is messed up and so you
can't make a good judgment about whether Ewido is slowing things done.
You would have to determine that on a completely clean system, which
yours is not.

Also as I say on the website, Sysclean and Multi_AV are *not*
full-featured antivirus programs. They are first-line antivirus removal
tools. You need to have a full-featured current version (not earlier
than 2005) antivirus installed, have an active subscription, and
updated virus definitions. Good antivirus programs are Kaspersky,
NOD32, and F-Prot (among others). I personally do not recommend Norton
or McAfee products.

Adware Alert is a rogue antispyware; i.e., a program that purports to be
a Good Guy but is really a Bad Guy. Refer to MVP Eric Howes' website:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm#products

The problems you are having are because your computer is still infested
with garbage. I understand that this is a church computer, but
attention from a professional computer repair shop might be your best
course of action.
