Copying Files to CD-Rs

After I copy a group of files totalling 20 MB in size,
Properties show that 43 MB of space are used on the CD-
R. It is the same when I copy 200 MB of data and 430 MB
show as "used". When I select all of the files on the CD-
R and then click properties, it shows only the original
size (i.e. 20 or 200 respectively). This greatly limits
the amount of data I can copy onto a CD-R. Any ideas
why? How do I avoid this problem and preserve the ability
to use the entire capacity of the CD-R?

This has always been the way it is. A 650MB disc will only
have 620MB of usuable space as often the UDF reader is
written to the disk as well so that it can be read on any
computer not just yours. Keep smiling.

Every time you add to the CDR, a new table of contents is created. May want
to try creating a holding area for files waiting to be burned until their
total size is close to the capacity of a single CDR, then burn. You'll be
able to get a few more files onto each CDR this way.
