I had maintained website as volunteer for non-profit. It was decided to
hire professional to redesign the website.
He copied most files and put on his server without FP extensions and it
worked fine since publishing had resolved the code. I was surprised at how
easy it is to capture files from web site. He even told me that you can
purchase webgrab program that would capture all the files.

Other than using server side scripts which could not be captured, is there
anyway to protect website files from being copied?

Thanks for information.
Susan

Search the group here, this is asked at least once a week.
If you don't want people to have it, don't put it on the web, that's the
only way to protect your files.

Thank you!

Please tell me what is best way to search? I have Outlook and use the Find.
If I place copying in the message or subject, all that shows is my thread. I
must admit I am not very good at searching the newsgroups.

Outlook actually uses Outlook Express to read newsgroups. Go to edit > find
message, type in your search parameters.

You also need to vary the search keywords, just because you use "copying" in
your subject doesn't mean someone else will.
Do a search for "restrict" and see what you find.
