Copying files from old laptop HDD to new Vista laptop...

Hello folks,

A few weeks ago my XP laptop died. So I went out and bought a vista
laptop and an enclosure for my old hard disk drive so I could salvage
my photos, music etc etc.

So, the old HDD works perfectly except I don't have the permissions
for any of my old documents...

I've tried changing the permissions but it means I have to do it for
every single file... even then I still can't open my old pictures.

Is there a way I can change every file in a directory in one swoop.
There is an option to do that but it doesn't appear to work very well.

Any ideas?

When you go to take ownership of the folder the data is in...
you should have the ability to take ownership of all the files within that
folder
 
You'd think so... there is that tick box that says something along the
lines of 'Apply to all objects within folder'. But that still doesn't
work. I still get an 'access denied' type message when I try to open
my old photos.
 
Actually, I just found out a way to open it by changing some of the
advanced options... however... I still have to do this per file rather
than in a batch. Is there any way I can do it in a batch? Otherwise
this is going to take a long, long, long time.
 
SOLVED

I had to set it so that all it so that all the sub folders had
inherited rights. Then go to the advanced options and make sure that
all folders inherited rights from the parent and visa versa...
