copy XP pro installation from drive to drive

The BIOS is set to "SATA" to operate,by default its turned off,once set,set
SATA or add-in device or similiar as 2nd boot device priority,set the cdrom
as
1st for xp installation only..Plus,SP2 gets installed in windows explorer,not
DOS as is xp installation (booting to xp cd).Also,99% of pc running SATA only
& not SATA with RAID do not use F6 option.
 
If you clone to another drive you usually have to shutdown after the clone
has completed and disconnect the origonal win drive, prior to connecting the
new clone drive as 'C'
If you dont win will either still boot on the origonal, or if you force a
boot from the new, the win registry entries will be expecting it to still be
C

I suggest you delete any Sata partitions on 'D' reclone, shutdown
immediately after the process, disconnect C and any other hd's, then
configure the sata as the boot drive.
You 'may' still have to repair the installation using the F6 option it very
much depends on the sata controler used and whether xp has the drivers.

While XP is normally running from the ide drive, try this. Enable SATA in
the bios setup, but not as a boot drive with SATA drive connected. There
should be some kind of hardware addition noted in XP. Reboot to XP. Should
see and have access to the SATA drive in XP disk management. If so, you
don't need any driver package for the F6 function in XP install setup.
