copy to cd

I copied excel and word files from a 3 1/2 disk to a cd-r
disc. When I opened the files on the cd-r disk and made
changes it would not let me save, I got a message
saying "the file was a read-only file" and could not be
saved. I did not enable the "read-only" function and
trying to remove it was unsuccessful. Please Help, I
don't know how to solve this problem.

excel, word...neither one is capable of saving to cd, you will have to save
it to hard disk or floppy and burn to cd again.

Files burned to a CD-R are inherently READ ONLY. If you want to change
them, copy them back to the harddisk, make changes, then reburn.
