Hi everybody
I would like to copy my video on a CD
When I press the option "move video to CD
I get a message telling there's no CD-R in my CD reader
I put a new CD-R in my reader
The system starts reading the CD and after a few seconds I get a message telling there's no CD Reader on the PC !!
My PC is a brand new SONY VAIO with a DVD & CD Writer
The program seems not to know my CD Writer. All other CD burner softwares work well
Where can I get an update for that
Many thanks for your replie

Hi there,

I get the same message every now and then and the
following always seems to resolve the problem...

(1) click "My Computer"
(2) right-click the DVD/CD drive
(3) select "properties"
(4) click "recording"
(5) make sure the "enable CD recording" box has a
checkmark in it -- if not just click the box

I think certain burner software products uncheck this box
when burning a DVD... such that you have to manually
reset it to deal with CD's -- just my guess.

Thanks for your reply
I've checked the box and the recording option is well marked
I've tried to disable it and enable it again but it doens't work better
I've also tried to disable the recording service included in WINDOWS/XP. Doesn't work
I think the CD driver is not recognized by the program as my PC is a new one
Any idea

Hello again,

Try this...

Disable it and reboot, then re-enable it and possibly move forward from
there or do another reboot. XP can be awkward with some of these settings,
reading them just once when you power up. I don't know if this is a setting
that is read once, but you will cover all base's doing it that way.

Hi Again,

While I'm wondering whether it would be safe to tinker with the registry
settings why don't you take a look at the Disk Drive tutorial on my website.
You should be able to run the tutorial whilst looking at the equivalent
settings on your own machine...you may spot something that is not set as
well as it might be.

Since the computer is new, you could try dialing up the
Sony people and ask them -- at least confirm that your
system "should" work with MM2.

Just saw an article on this in Microsoft Knowledge base concerning Sony and
NeoMagic video drivers. Is your VAIO a notebook or have those drivers? There
is another problem like this with HP writers when their packet-writing
softare is installed. You have to copy your file to your HD, then burn it
using their software (2 steps) (this was the HP workaround).
