copy & paste not working

i can't understand it but i am unable
to copy and paste a block.

i get as far as tagging the block to copy
but when i go to a new cell to paste, the paste
function is dimmed out ...


it wasn't always like this :(

can anyone tell me what is going on ????

no it is not protected

i can copy and paste a single cell ONLY if i copy
it from the STATUS/EDIT line

but if i want to copy cells a1 to a3 and paste
it to cells b1 to b3
when i put the cursor on b1 , the paste menu option
becomes DIMMED OUT
it is NOT so when it is STILL on cell a1

I AM TOTALLY LOST
 
Maybe you have a worksheet_selectionchange event macro firing. If you open the
workbook with macros disabled, can you paste?

If yes, right click on the worksheet tab and select view code. Is there
anything there?

There might be something under ThisWorkbook, too
(Workbook_SheetSelectionChange).

Depending on what happens, these kinds of event macros can kill the clipboard.
 
you got it !!!!

i opened a new workbook and it worked just fine.

now , i will have to find the macro that
is killing my own form. i don't think it is going
to be fun.

If it happens on only one sheet, look under that sheet first. right click on
the worksheet tab and select view code.

If it's not there, look under ThisWorkbook. It could be lurking in that module,
too.
