Hello,
I am trying to use the drawing mode in Word (2002 + SP2). I am trying
to create a few duplicates of a text-box that I have drawn (to
visualize "optionally multiple of these...").

But when I e.g. select a box, then copy it, then paste: nothing
happens. When I copy, then deselect the original (i.e. I click into
the background), then paste: still nothing happens.

Is this working as designed, i.e. does the drawing mode not allow to
copy&paste objects (but why is copy and paste then enabled and not
grayed out?) or is this some "local" bug, i.e. is there something's
fishy with my installation?

To 'copy' a text box, select the Text Box and hold down the Control Key and
left click the edge of the box whilst you drag the a copy to a new location.
You will see the pointer has a tiny + marker to show it is copying to a new
location.

Thanks - that indeed did the trick.
BTW: is there some good collection or summary of such "tricks" (or
rather necessities) for the drawing mode?

Michael

Using Ctrl+Drag to copy is a shortcut that works across Windows apps, from
Explorer windows on down.
