Folks,

I have discovered that copying simple text from Java-based applications
(Sun Java Runtime 1.4.2 b28) pasted into FrontPage 2002 editor as text
will crash FrontPage 2002. Confirmed this with jEdit and with Sun's
demo program NotePad App which is part of their Java Web Start
Application Manager.

I don't know if this is a problem with Java or Front Page. I have not
noticed problems with pasting from jEdit into any other Windows programs
that use (NotePad, Word 97, Palm PIM, Mozill 1.3 email, etc.)

My hunch this a problem with FrontPage on how it receives the clipboard
data. I conclude this because pasting from jEdit/Java into other Windwos
apps works ok.

How is this most effectively reported to Microsoft? XP's "Send Report"
to Microsoft executed and the info sent to them. This good enough?

thanks,
rms

Unlike other Document related APPs, FP relies heavily on IE (and the IE DOM) for the Design view, and I suspect it is any JAVA that
will crash the "browser" portion of FP - since JAVA writes directly to the screen

Save your applet in the other apps and use File Import to bring them into FP

So, in other words, neither Microsoft nor Sun want to know...
