Copy/past toolbar icon

I would like to copy a toolbar icon and paste it into the document. The process that works for copy/paste a toolbar icon onto another toolbar does not seem to work. What would I have to do differently. Thanks for your assistance.
 
Open Tools | Customize. Right-click on the desired button and choose Copy
Button Image. Close Customize and Paste where you want the icon.
