I can't copy outlook items from my computer drive to MS Office XP on my
computer. How do I import outlook items into MS Office XP?

Thanks for your suggestions. They don't appear to be pst files; when I
right click and click Properties the Type of file is 'Outlook Item' (icons
are envelops). I tried to connect to it per your instructions below but was
not successful. My original intent was to copy and paste my Contacts from my
work to my home Outlook. I might have copied in a way that is difficult to
paste to my home Outlook. Any other suggestions?

Then they are probably msg-files.
You should be able to drag and drop them from Explorer into the Outlook
Contacts folder.

However, if the original source was Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007, you might
run into some issues still.

You are correct. The original source is MS Office 2007 and the target is MS
Outlook 2002. The message 'Can't copy the items' returns when attempting to
drop & drag items from the source to target outlook.

Correct, you then need to save the messages again from the Outlook 2007
source but in the old format.
To do this, open the contact in Outlook 2007 and choose File-> Save As...
and select ".msg" as the format. Don't select the msg-format for Unicode.

If you are using drag & drop in Outlook 2007, then you can also set Outlook
to save in the ANSI format (for Outlook 97 - 2002) by default;
Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> Advanced Options-> untick: Use Unicode Message
Format when saving messages

There is no way to import the new Unicode formatted msg-files in Outlook
2002 when you don't have access to Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007.
