does anyone know of a tool that will automatically copy selected text? In
other words, if i select text, it is copied to the clipboard without having
to CTRL-C or Edit | Copy.

Thanks,

RS

You can't just do it from the mouse context menu? I doubt anything
else is faster.

Richard.............Don't know a tool..............but..............if I
select text by left click and drag and then right click without moving the
mouse, I get a 'copy' option menu.........its pretty damn quick.

Hope that helps ITC

it's fast, but i'd like to not do anything to copy it, just select it. some
apps do it already, like Tera Term or other telnet/ssh clients (or most
anything *nix). I just wish windows did it (or could be made to do it)
automagically.

Yea, mIRC does that. IIRC, Yankee Clipper III does it too, and you may be
able to use it for scraps.

You may want to check AutoCopy :

"Sometimes I check a lot of URL´s which are listed as ASCII on a
website.
Then all the time the same procedure:
1. mark text, 2. copy text, 3. paste text, 4. enter.
This small tool reduce this procedure from 4 steps to 3 steps:
1. mark text, 2. paste text, 3. enter"

It is only 9 KB, but it comes in a package of about 50 tools (870 KB).

ToolsPackage http://www.freewarehits.de/ToolsPackage.htm

The tools do not need installation nor do they write to the registry.

I could add this functionality to Notepad or the first
"Edit"/"Richedit" control of a window by using AutoIt3... If this
interests you, I will code it tonight... You can check up on my
progress at...
