I used to able to copy newsgroups title from web and paste into outlook
express to find newgroup
now it does not show as
microsoft.public.outlook.general as before just says discussions in
outlook genereal questions

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000 & 2002 from the Office
family for Windows PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one
of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...blic.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress
for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ublic.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...;newsgroupsmicrosoft.public.internet.mail.mac
for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

That's not what the poster said. They are using OE as their newsreader.
It's the Outlook newsgroup that they were searching for.

John,

Looks like you have some trailing whitespace (tab or spaces) after the
pasted string because of your post which has:

"... show as
microsoft.public.outlook.general as before ..."

Looks like you copied in both a newline (CRLF) and some trailing
whitespace (tabs or spaces). Does it work if you paste in JUST the
"microsoft.public.outlook.general"? I'm pretty sure
"<CRLF>microsft.public.outlook.general<space><space><space>" does not
exist. Obviously the newsgroup does exist because that's where your
post showed up. Maybe you need to have your OE reread the groups list
from your news server. It's also possible that YOUR news server doesn't
carry that newsgroup, so you'll have to use a different news server,
like Microsoft's at news.microsoft.com.
