I have a question regarding my original post (3/26/07) Outlook 2003

Is the way to accomplish this: to write a batch file, rules, script
(whatever it's called) that will execute the above subject "Copy" function
every time my PC is turned on? Before opening Outlook; which is in my
"Startup" file.
If so I need help in the writing of same.

Where would I find instructions on writing batch files?
Can it be programed to copy over all duplicates from previous openings?

Thanks,

Angus

My original post (3/26/07) Outlook 2003:

I wish to copy selected folders from my wifes User Account Name on her
Outlook screen to my User Account Name folders (with the same respective
names) on my Outlook screen. My wife and I have different Profiles, named
differently; but they are configured identically to the same E-mail address.

With separate profiles, you have separate PSTs. If you want data from your
wife's PST, just open it in your profile. In Outlook, click
File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to her PST and select it. This assumes,
of course, that your username has enough permission to read the file.

This may relate to the question I was going to post. I have 3 Profiles set
up in Outlook 2002 sp 2. Profile 1 is Business Personal Profile 2 is for our
Non-Profit Organization and 3 is strictly personal just for family use. I
had to stop the Archive process because the 6 month and older emails that
should have been archived in profile 2 where showing up in profile 1. None
of them showed up in profile 2 where they should have been. The folder names
were not all the same and the archive process transferred profile 2's folders
to profile 1. My Outlook is personal on my computer and is not connected to
the Microsoft Servers (Mainly because I don't know what that means, how to do
it or if it would be a good idea) I don't want to take the discussion away
from Angus and if I have this in the wrong place please let me know. This is
the first time I am using a support group. When I read Angus' question it
made me think that maybe that is why the emails went to a different profile
because of the shared folders.

Brian:
Thanks for your response. I followed your instructions. I started my PC
and selected my User Account Name on the opening Windows screen. I located
my wifes "outlook.pst" file name in the Window: "Open Outlook Data File":
Documents and Settings
Jeanne McKeown
Local Settings
Application Data
Microsoft
Outlook
Outlook.pst

I selected Outlook.pst then clicked on OK. The system took me back to my
"Mail Payne" on my Outlook screen; but did not display the contents of:
Outlook.pst

I tried the same process locating my User Name ".pst" files and could not
open and read them either. The system did the same thing it immediately took
me back to my Mail Payne on my Outlook screen; but did not display their
contents.

Both my wife and I are configured having "Computer Administrator Status"
In the Window: "Open Outlook Data File" are the contents of each respective
".pst" file selected and OK clicked; supposed to be displayed in this Window?

I respectfully ask for more help.

Switch to the Folder List view and see if the other PST shows up.

Worst case, you can both move your PSTs to the Shared Documents folder.

Brian:

I followed your below instructions. I never was able to screen read the
contents of any of the ".PST" files I was trying to open. After several
tries; I went back and opened the Folder in the OutLook Vertical Folders
window payne I had set up for shared use between my wifes User Account
Outlook screen and my User Account OutLook screen. I created the two
respective Folders with the same Folder name in each of our Accounts. To my
surprise the system is working excatly how I wish it to. My wife can now
drag and drop all of my E-mails that appear on her OutLook InBox screen to
our shared Folder. All the items she puts into her shared Folder show up in
my Folder of the same name . I then redistribute these items to Folders I
created of my choice.

Perhaps you can explain to me how this all happened. I am very happy with
the results; but have no idea how it all happened. I read where Shared files
only work with OutLook systems that use an "Exchange Server"; I use a "Pop3"
Server.
Thanks very much for your help.

Not without a thorough description of how you configured Outlook and your
mail profiles. I'm not familiar with some of the terms you used, either,
like "Outlook Vertical Folders pane".
