Hi all,

Whenever I copy any folder to/from any removable drive,
the new destination folder/subfolder date & time
is not the same same as the original folder/subfolder.
How can I do copy of folders/subfolders that will
retain the original folder date/ time ?

Thanks

After a little bit experiments, I found that copying and pasting a folder to
new location create a new folder therefor a new date and time stamped is
created. However, I use Backup from System Tools and find it useful. I backup
some folders from C drive and later I restore them to another location and
found that the Date and Time stamp was the same as the original one.

Hope this information may useful to you, let us know!

Hi RajKohli,

Thanks for the tip.
How about earlier version of Win
such as Win Me where there is no backup utility
in the System Tools ? Is there some ms dos command
such as xcopy that can do so ?

With regards

Thanks again for the link.
Mine was an OEM Winme so do not have the msbexp.exe
file. I have tried to google for winme msbexp.exe but too much
link. Do you have any idea to download this file from the web ?
BTW, is there a winme forum, so that I can post winme related
issue. I think here is not the right place.

Thanks.

Very strange. See what Microsoft has to say about Backup Utility in Windows
ME OEM:

IMPORTANT: Unlike programs such as ScanDisk, Disk Defragmenter, Paint, and
so on, the Microsoft Backup tool is not a core component of Windows
Millennium Edition (Me). The Microsoft Backup tool has been included with the
retail, released version of Windows Me to help maintain the functionality of
Microsoft Backup after an upgrade to Windows Me. It is important to note that
the Microsoft Backup tool cannot provide extensive backup functionality.
Because of this, if you need to backup data, Microsoft recommends you obtain
and install a third-party backup program.

Find another free backup softwares here:

http://www.hsinlin.com/software/backup.html

Hope this solves the problem, let us know!
