Frankly, suggest you seek advice from someone who knows. Consult with
the person who advised you to reload Windows (which is a very drastic
step and not always needed even though a call center help desk advises
it sometimes -- to get you off the phone).
Buy yourself a second hard disk ( you can get a 40Meg HD for about $40 ) and
hook it up as the master on the primary IDE channel, this disk will be your
new "C" drive ... hook up your existing HD as the master on the secondary
IDE chanel., this disk will be your new "D" drive. Your existind CD-ROM will
now be disk "E".
Use your winXP CD to format your new "C" and install winXP. All applications
will have to be reinstalled, but all of your data will be acessable on "D".
