Is there some way to mass copy my total list of favorite
places from my old computer to my new one. I know i could
probably send them in an e-mail or something but I'm
looking for something more single-step.

Thanks,
Deana

Hi Deana - On your old computer in IE6|File|Export your favorites. Copy the
resultant html file to a floppy and then on your new computer in
IE6|File|Import them from the file on the floppy.

No argument with Jim's advice. However, if you are moving from a
non-XP computer to one with XP, be aware that XP is notorious for
problems with floppies (is unable to read *some* floppies formatted on
other than XP machines, doesn't recognize that a floppy is in the
drive, etc.). Since most Favorites folders are small, email may turn
out to be the best option. That is, export the Favorites as per
directions but to your current hard drive, then email the resulting
bookmarks.html to yourself.

When transporting programs from my old Win98 computer to the new one
with XP, I ended up spending considerable time identifying the
floppies my new computer would accept..

Hi Maureen - Good point, thanks. You might be interested in this:

(may wrap) I changed mine for my Win2KPro which exhibited the same type of
floppy problems (Win2k has long been noted for them) and haven't seen any
since. AT YOUR OWN RISK, of course as always. If you decide to do so, use
the .sys files identified in the downloaded readme for each of the two
updates rather than the exact procedure outlined in the post (which
erroneously specifies the same .sys file for both). BTW, since it's a
routine driver update, you should be able to easily revert to the original
XP system drivers if necessary, although I haven't (had to) tried that. :)
