Can't boot because of driver missing. Can't repair (r)through the XP. How do
I extract the "system32\drivers\isapnp.sys" from my Windows XP disc to my
windows system so I can boot my computer? I have also copied the isapnp file
from another computer to "a:drive floppy". How do I type this? Thanks

This site is great. The system could not find the file and it was also
unable to create file. But using the commands, I used the copy from "a" to
my "c"______ and it worked. Thank you so much.
Use the Recovery Console.

Thank you, I will try and do this tonight. I know I can't go through the
"repair", I can't get beyond the
administrator password

You might try these web sites to look for your driver and download it.

Good luck regards,

You're welcome.

An easy trap to get yourself into. read this link.

Once you have your system up and running consider doing this.

The recovery console needs the pasword for the person who installed XP, not
for just any administrator. If the install was done by a major PC maker,
you may need to contact them for it.

However, the password is sometimes blank. So, try just pressing enter when
you are asked for a password, it may help.

Or, if you can get into XP, even safe mode, you can arrange to bypass the
password by the following registry change:

Instead, just run REGEDIT (Start à Run à Regedit)
Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Setup\Recover
yConsole
Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1
