Copy dates from Access view to Excel adds 4 years

I have an Access table that contains dates. If I select and copy the text of
a single data field, I can paste it into an Excel cell with no problem.
However, if I copy the entire cell (or a column or row of cells) from Access
and paste it to Excel, all of the resulting dates in Excel appear as
(approximately) 4 years and two days later. For example, 8/1/2006 in Access
copies to Excel as 8/2/2010!

If I EXPORT the table to Excel, all dates are perfect.

What the %@#*& is going on?

I have heard that Excel supports two different date schemas where the origin
dates are different. That would explain the 4 year difference. Access
assumes that the origin date (0 value) is Dec 30, 1899 and counts days, plus
and minus from that point. Under some conditions, Excel uses a date schema
where the origin date (0 value) is in 1904. I can't tell you how to fix the
problem, you'll have to search excel help to find out how to use the
different date schema.
