Copy and paste non-contiguous columns

I have an Excel spreadsheet with about 100 columns. I need to copy the
data from some of these columns - e.g. 1, 2, 4, 40 and 100, and paste
them into another application. I can highlight these columns only but
when I copy and paste the result is that every column between the 1st
and last is copied. How do I copy only those selected columns? Thanks :)

select your columns
edit|copy
create a new worksheet
edit|paste (into A1 of that new worksheet)
The select your newly pasted columns and copy from there.

Thanks - interesting that the cut and paste works within Excel but not
when pasting to another app. That solution is a bit inconvenient since
I have to do it hundreds of times... Another way I saw posted was to
hide columns then the remaining ones are contiguous. Again, it's pretty
inconvenient. Are there any other options?

Which app are you pasting into? When in Word, you can turn on your databse
toolbar, insert database, point to you spreadsheet, select columns, etc. Not
having done this myself, mot sure it will work for you... Let me know...

I would have thought that pasting to a different worksheet would be more
convenient that hiding columns--but it's your choice.

If it's something you do all the time, maybe you could record a macro when you
do it--then just rerun that macro when you need it.

I don't have any better ideas.
